Get to know DJ X-Vertigo better
Q1:How long have you been in the "scene" here in LA?
Well, i moved from Paris France to Los Angeles when i was 13 (i am now 22 years old) but it's not until the age of 17 that i started getting into the scene out here in LA. So it's now been 5 years...
Q2: In your opinion, what's LA's 'edge' in the clubbing scene compared with other US cities like Miami, Detroit, New York?
We're definitely behind there's absolutely no doubt about that; i have done gigs in San Francisco,Las Vegas,Miami, and couple other cities and i can tell you that the scene is completely different. For instance in Miami/New York or even San Francisco, it's part of their culture to grow up with Electronic Music, while out here it's more Hip Hop/Rock/Alternative and then they started picking up way later on with electronic music, through raves. You'll notice for instance Nu Rave/Indie music that just came out 2 years ago because of Justice and Daft Punk is very rock influenced... hence why it appeals to the LA Crowd, however you check Miami, this style wouldn't work there. They're used to filthy dirty House music and that's where it's at really....
Q3: When was your first DJ experience & who was playing?
I really can't remember my first party, i was very young probably 15 years old... but i can remember playing my first big show with the legendary Eddie Amador. I was pretty nervous but the set went very well.
Q4: If given the chance, what artists would you like to work/play with?
There's so many artists i'd like to play with: Hardwell,Sidney Samson,Chuckie,Joachim Garraud,Fedde le Grand, Axwell, Sebastien Ingrosso,Laidback Luke, Steve Angello and more.
Q5: What projects are you currently working on?
It's been a month and half now i haven't been giging in LA, i refused couple offers mainly because i am 100% in the studio - i just finished a remix with Mike Foyle (Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream) that's available on my myspace: http://www.myspace.com/djxvertigo and working on couple bootlegs/original work - But i can definitely tell you that i have big plans for 2010, just keep checking...
Q6: Who are some of your influential artists?
You know to be honest with you, i think Holland is where it's at. I don't know why but they just have some of the most unbelievable producers out there, for instance Hardwell is one of my favorite and he's only 21... his music influences me everyday, you got also Nicky Romero, or guys like Axwell, Seb Ingrosso, Steve Angello or even Laidback Luke they're all so young but so talented.
Q7: What are your 'top 5' electronic music tracks of all time?
That i can't answer, mainly because there's so many great tracks that i just can't figure out which ones i like the best...
Q8: What was the last record/track/album you bought?
The last track i bought was 'Jack your Body' by Alex Kenji, very dirty track!
Q9: Any advice for the aspiring promoter/dj?
Work hard, very hard it's a tough industry with a lot of up and down..
Q10: Where can we find you?
